KIM MANG ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY FOR OJAI CITY COUNCIL, DISTRICT 4
Ojai, CA August 6, 2024 – Citing the need for truth, transparency and collaborative communication between Ojai residents and their representatives on the Ojai City Council as the primary factors motivating her to seek a seat on the Ojai City Council, longtime Ojai resident Kim Mang officially announced her candidacy for the Ojai City Council, District 4 seat today.
“When my family moved to Ojai over 25 years ago, it was the strong sense of community, the beauty of the surrounding mountains and trails, and the City’s commitment to manage development as a means to preserving all of the unique elements that make the Ojai valley so special,” said Mang in announcing her candidacy. “As Ojai has attracted more part-time residents, we are now struggling with myriad issues -- affordable housing, traffic control, parking, and the needs of the unhoused in our community as well as declining enrollment in our public schools and affordable public services, including police, water, emergency services, parks and recreation, the list goes on. As a common sense, fiscally responsible, results orientated person, I am committed to doing what’s right for our community and the people I will represent. I believe the only way to address and resolve issues is to face them head on, with truthful assessments of all sides of any situation, the transparent involvement of all members of our community, both public and private, and a commonsense approach to reasonable, cost-effective, and collaborative resolutions.”
“I’m very encouraged by Kim Mang’s decision to run for the Ojai City Council District 4 seat,” said Dr. Matt Bailey of Matilija Veterinary Hospital. “Throughout the 20 years that I have known Kim, she has always demonstrated a unique ability to delve into the positions on all sides of an issue, listening to people’s concerns and ideas and always asking pertinent questions. She is known throughout Ojai as a fair and honest individual who knows how to get things done, and I believe she is the positive change that can facilitate the collaborative decision making that will bring all of Ojai together under the banner of sensible growth balanced with preserving the sense of community and uniqueness that attracted all of us to Ojai in the first place.”
Focusing on truth, transparency and open communication, Mang’s campaign team includes Finance Director Dianne Farnham; Public Relations and Director of Volunteers Kris Sofley, and Social Media Director Brady Mang. The campaign also encourages everyone to visit its website: https://KimMang4CityCouncil.com to learn more about the candidate’s positions on specific issues and areas of concern. For the past 17 years, Mang has managed a family-owned small property management business, leasing, renting, and maintaining several single-family homes and townhouses located both in Los Angeles and Ventura counties. Previously, she worked in sales and marketing, finance, and management of a family-owned and operated soft water and drinking water business in Santa Clarita.
Mang, who raised her three sons in the Ojai Valley, has a history of public service in the community, including having served as PTA President at Topa Topa Elementary, Matilija Jr. High, and as the Parent Guild President at Villanova. She was also a surrogate parent for Ojai Unified School District (OUSD), where she started a support group for families whose children have special needs.
